In addition to teaching and research, I have launched several ventures that I hope will improve lives. Below are a few of the projects I’m currently working on.

French 80/20

French 80/20 is the smart way to learn French. The method applies the Pareto Principle: 20% of words unlock the 80% of real communication. Learners acquire vocabulary through realistic dialogues, not word lists. Smart selection ensurs every word is high impact. Repeated exposure builds recognition, speaking practice builds pronunciation confidence, and real-time feedback catches mistakes and incentivizes growth.

National Quiet Zone Association

I co-founded the National Quiet Zone Association, a benefit LLC created with two BYU students. Our mission is to help communities, policymakers, and residents navigate the complexities of establishing and maintaining train quiet zones that improve public health and quality of life.

The Association provides research, guidance, and advocacy on quiet zone policy nationwide. Our work has been featured in the press:

Other Venture Ideas

I’m exploring several other ideas that I think should exist.

  • Adaptive Glasses for Strabismus
    A concept for smart glasses that automatically tint or shade when the wearer’s eyes are not properly aligned, offering a novel approach to treating strabismus (crossed eyes).

  • Mortgage Sweep and Re-Lending Platform
    A platform to help homeowners accelerate mortgage payoff by automatically sweeping excess cash to principal reduction and re-lending the equity only when it’s needed to minimize interest expense.

  • Realistic Bike Trailers for Kids
    Bike trailers that look like real, miniature cars to motivate young children to enjoy riding along behind their parents.
